Year 13 Business Studies Students Succeed at YES Pitch

Our level 3 business students, who are part of the Young Enterprise Scheme, stepped up to the second challenge of the year – a business pitch.  Each year the teams must tackle five challenges in order to achieve NZQA Recognition, that they have participated in the YES program, as well as gaining NCEA credits.

Challenge 2 was presenting their business idea to judges from the business world.  It is very nerve-racking, but our students stepped up to this challenge.  We drove to the Mangere Art’s Centre and had two rooms of students presenting simultaneously!  Very hectic but we performed well on the day. The teams had to prepare a power point presentation covering key aspects of their business, as well showing a prototype of their product.  They were only allowed five minutes to get their message across to the judges, plus ticking off everything on the marking criteria.

They should all be proud of themselves.  It is an awesome experience to prepare a pitch – real-life stuff!! The judges were professional and gave the teams positive feedback and some even bought some of the products!  There are over 6000 participants of YES nationally, and Auckland South Region is one the largest.

Congratulations to the top three teams from Pukekohe High School
