Pukekohe High Student Liam Gregor | NZ Business Hall of Fame

Is that the wealthiest man in New Zealand with Liam Gregor?

Liam Gregor, recently spoke at the NZ Business Hall of Fame event to 650 business and high profile New Zealanders.  This year, at the event, Liam had the responsibility of introducing and inducting Bruce McLaren into the NZBHOF posthumously.  Liam was selected by the Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) to represent them and Pukekohe High School for this prestigious event.    He was selected for his leadership qualities (rangatiratanga) of his YES business, Taiao Planters, of which Liam is the CEO.  There were seven students chosen by YES from New Zealand to participate in the event because of their inspiration and business ethic running their YES companies this year.

Established in 1994, by Young Enterprise, the NZ Business Hall of Fame recognises and celebrates individuals who have made a significant contribution to the economic and social development of New Zealand.

Laureates are admitted to the Hall at an annual black tie gala dinner. Each laureate has a story of enterprise, hard work and success. Most have contributed generously to their communities. Who knows perhaps Liam will become a laureate one day?

Liam memorised the five minute speech and spoke confidently and eloquently about how Bruce McLaren had contributed to the motor industry in NZ and around the world. Here  are some photos of Liam speaking and accepting the award taken on the evening, as well as the 15 minute video of Liam inducting Bruce McLaren.  He is sitting with Jan McLaren (sister of Bruce) and Michael Barnett, Auckland Business Chamber accepting the framed award.

There are also photos of Liam with Graeme Hart and Steven Adams.

Richard Barnett, Pukekohe High School Principal quoted “ Congratulations to Liam on his achievement and contribution made towards the YES programme and in representing Pukekohe High School’s values at this important business event.”

“At my table I sat with the head of McLaren Pat Hearn, and Grant Cleary of Cleary Wealth Management.  This was a highlight as I learnt so much more about business and finance and how to work in a recession from these leaders of industry.  It was an awesome opportunity for me to also meet Graeme Hart and Steven Adams on the night.” Liam said.

So how far will Liam progress after such a successful year?  We will keep in touch with him and see where his future takes him.
