On Saturday 14 May the school was presented with a shield by some past students of the school, who left Pukekohe High in 1959. The shield was designed by Paul Tucker and each member of the first 6A (now Year 13) class to graduate from PHS contributed to the shield, along with past principals John McConnell and Ian McKinnon. The Centenary Values Shield is made from recycled rimu and contains the four school values and names of each of the principals dating back to 1921.
The shield was presented to two current Year 13 students who accepted it on behalf of the school. From left to right in this photo – Tom Brownlee, Mary (nee Mitchell) Manning, Paul Tucker, Tyler Chapman (current student representative on the Board of Trustees), Dave Upton and Caitlin van Rijs. The enduring sense of pride and connection that this wonderful group of people have in their school is an inspiration to all of us.
