Recently our school jazz band had the opportunity to take part in a workshop run by the talented Rodger Fox of the NZ School of Music.
Here are a few words about his day.
“I have had a long association with Pukekohe High School and over the years the NZSM has had many students from the school fill the student ranks as part of the jazz program.
Students such as Kaito Wally (Trombone with the Rodger Fox Big Band, LAB, and Tune of I), Seth Boy (Bass – performs with the Mingus Ensemble and with his own large ensemble as well as now teaching at the NZSM) and the list go on and on.
The band is sounding very good and their new HOD of Music Steven Granshaw was really engaged in the workshop and into learning the craft of directing a jazz big band.” – Rodger Fox.
